Making Room For God – The Best Decision You Will Ever Make!

The Shunem Woman and Her Husband Make Room For God

2 Kings 4: 8 & 9

8 One day Elisha went to the town ofShunem. A wealthy woman lived there, and she urged him to come to her home for a meal. After that, whenever he passed that way, he would stop there for something to eat.

9 She said to her husband, “I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. 10 Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp.  Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.”

Turn your small visits with God, into ones where He comes to stay.

The items she named for the room are significant . . .

  1. The Bed: for rest, healing and dreaming.
  2. The Table: to spread out the mapping of your life in God AND the “Big” book of truth – The Word!
  3. The Chair: to pull up to the table, to pause, to stay without fatigue.
  4. The Lamp: the Holy Spirit spreads His light on your journey’s map.  Making clear your understanding of the Word AND yourself, you’ll know where, how far and when.

Just go for it – make more room for God – watch your life take flight!

The Futile Mind vs The Fertile Mind

•February 2, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Ephesians 4:17 (NKJV)

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as  the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,

Other translations say . . .

The vanity of their thinking . . .

        Hopelessly confused . . .

        Empty headed, mindless . . .

Being given and subject to God in your walk teaches we need to wait on Him!  This will transform us!  From the inside out AND includes how and when we think!

 Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

But those who wait on the LORD             Shall renew their strength;  They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

No, you wont all of a sudden find yourself sitting on the wings of an actual eagle.

However, your perspective will have grown enormously, your understanding of detail, cause and effect, light and dark, right path wrong path, time to move, time to pause, will be astounding and your grounded, informed, powerful decisions from that point will cause significant rise and energy in your life . . .

With Jesus as Lord of your everything  it (your mind) can turn into the supercomputer it was originally designed to be!  Imagine . . . Direct Link DATA connection!  No filtering, no virus, no trojan, no demonic key logging, no stolen identity,  no malware, no jump linking (dream screen hi-jacking), no incompatibility issues, no disparity, just . . . vast bandwidth connection . . . to God!  Now that’s gotta make you “fly!”

(pic is the Painter Supercomputer at Louisiana Tech)

Without God, your mind will be the perpetual battle field of a hijacking terrorist!

I want the first bit, the supercomputer bit, the “with Jesus” bit, how about you!

See you in church church!

Productive Sorrow?

•January 20, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Productive Sorrow?

What’s that?

Can that exist?

Sure Can!

Paul writes (and wrestles personally over it) a strong letter to the Church of Corinth, that was intended to correct . . . it brought a sorrow to the church . . . but it also produced the positive results that God wanted to see happen . . . and it produced the opposite to spiritual death . . .  spiritual life!

2 Corinthians 7

9 Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways.

It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way.

10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow.

But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

Sorrow must have a purpose linked to your walk in Christ.

Sorrow without awakening, repentance and change is just sorrow!

Scripture calls it spiritual death!

Interesting.

Verse 11 continues by talking about the products of Godly sorrow, strong awareness of wrong, earnestness, a readiness to follow, zeal . . .

Always find what God wants when sorrow arrives in your life!

If you don’t – it’ll just come back!

Decision by decision, lead by God we become more and more alive!

Amazing!

And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”

•January 13, 2012 • Leave a Comment

I saw this scripture posted somewhere this week and my heart jumped out of my chest, I thought . . . yes . . . that is the core, the heart of 2012 . . . Lord show us Your Glory!

Exodus 33:18 – 19 (NKJV)

Moses to God:  18And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”

God to Moses:  19Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

Us giving God the glory and His Glory arriving are two different events.

When God’s Glory arrives scripture says the Priests may find it difficult to stand, they may fall down.  Can you imagine what can happen when His Glory arrives?   Think for just a small moment – careful your head (or maybe your heart) may explode!

Push us over Lord!

Jesus Lord At Thy Birth – Dawn of Redeeming Grace

•December 17, 2011 • Leave a Comment

In 1818 a man Joseph Mohr was moved by scripture . . .

Probably this from Isaiah . . .

Isaiah 9:6 – 7 (NKJV)

6           For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

            Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

            Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7           Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end,

. . . and wrote the lyrics to one of the famous Christmas Carols we still sing and are moved by today.

Silent Night.

Lyrics lines that are each monumental in what they are saying . . . each line a statement to contemplate and be blown away . . . prophecy fulfilled . . .

I just want to drop to my knees and worship Him.

Silent night, holy night

Shepherds quake at the sight

Glories stream from heaven afar

Heavenly hosts sing alleluia

Christ the Savior is born

Son of God, love’s pure light

With the dawn of redeeming grace

Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

What Gifts Did Jesus Bring With Him?

•December 10, 2011 • 2 Comments

I cannot experience this incredible season without musing on what Jesus brought with Him to this world.

A massive haul of gifts . . . they are eternal – neither moth nor rust can eat or oxidize them away.

Do we know what they all are?

Did we stop at the greatest miracle gift of all?  Salvation for all mankind!

Much of the church has done exactly that.

Dig deeper, keep looking – there’s so much more!

Don’t leave these gifts still wrapped under the tree (Calvary).

Unwrap it all . . . this life in Jesus should be amazing.

When you’re going for it all . . . you step into a revolution . . . and your best life unfolds!

And then . . . you give it away to someone you love . . .

See you in church!

You Have To Make A Choice

•December 2, 2011 • Leave a Comment

You cant have it both ways, you cant flip flop from being under God’s Grace and living by that Grace, then cross over into trying to justify your self before (or hold others accountable to) Him by fulfilling and toying with the Law.

The law has been fulfilled – Jesus did it for you and everyone else.  Once and forever.

Live by it, live in it, operate in it when you are relating with others.

Take Jesus’ lead, in and by Grace, encourage others to get on the incredible journey of following Him.

He said He’s the way . . . follow that way.

He said He’s the life . . . live in Him and that life will be yours.

He said He’s the truth . . . believe it and everything shifts.

Jesus ushered in this season, this ethos, this lifestyle, this covenant.

Grace: the unmerited favour of God poured out . . . on you and I.

That’s a revolution.

The alternative is devastating.  For you and others.

Galatians 5:4

New Living Translation (NLT)

4 For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

Free? What does that mean to me?

•November 25, 2011 • 1 Comment

We hear that word . . .

. . . everybody hears it different.  Everybody “reads” it different!

How do you hear it?  How do you see it?

Does it speak to something in your heart, your wallet, your relationships, your worship, your head, your direction, your soul?

Does it mean something?  Does it mean almost nothing?  Is it slightly or mostly obscured?  What by?

Is it valuable?  Is it invaluable?  Is it throw-away?  Is it so far away, it’s not worth pursuing?

Is this a monster subject?  Or . . . just a monster!

Is it true?  Or is it not worth trusting?

John 8:36 (NKJV)  Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

This is one amazing scripture!  Never think the Son of God is single dimensional.

Winning into Freedom – Oswald Chambers

•November 18, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Quiet everyone Oswald Chambers is at the mic!

“If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

If there is even a trace of individual self-satisfaction left in us, it always says, “I can’t surrender,” or “I can’t be free.”

But the spiritual part of our being never says “I can’t”; it simply soaks up everything around it.

Our spirit hungers for more and more. It is the way we are built. We are designed with a great capacity for God, but sin, our own individuality, and wrong thinking keep us from getting to Him.

God delivers us from sin—we have to deliver ourselves from our individuality.
This means offering our natural life to God and sacrificing it to Him, so He may transform it into spiritual life through our obedience.

Ignore People! IGNORE PEOPLE?

•November 11, 2011 • 1 Comment

You know . . . if you just  . . . ignore where people think they are at with the Lord and get them into His Presence, something supernatural will happen!

People say “oh I’m really not churchy” or “I just wasn’t raised that way” or “oh I have my church, I go 2 or 3 times a year” or “I’m Catholic” or “I’m Baptist” which is meant to say, go away, I have my stuff (whatever that means).

Everything about God is supernatural, He is, His Son Jesus is, Salvation is, His Spirit . . . don’t get me started . . . actually . . . get me started!

Our church can get very “filled” with His Presence, like an outpouring of the Holy Spirit . . . when we get people in there, something’s going to happen!

2 Corthinians 3: 15-18

15Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.

16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.
